Combining the history of Easter island with the possible future of what impact climate change could have on their current population, Deja Vu is a museum that addresses what this could look like in the near future. This is a museum that brings out emotions both positive and negative to bring light to the historic past of the Polynesians who discovered the island about 1,000 years ago. Easter island is known for its mysterious moai statues that stand along its coast, almost as if they are looking out to the sea hoping to protect their territory. The island contains many caves that span all throughout into the volcanic rock.

The idea of the space is to bring out the feeling of Deja Vu within the user. Deja Vu is a feeling of having experienced the present situation before. Some believe that deja vu is a feeling of nostalgia from a past life. This idea is represented within the space by showcasing what the lives of the Polynesian people might have looked like in the time period when their people were flourishing. The idea of this structure eventually being fully submerged in water is shown in the interior rendering showing the progression of the water level rising. This directly calls out the urgency of climate change and how it is affecting this island.
