After a long day of being out on the water, a place of comfort and functionality is what the Beneath the Sails Sleeper provides. The design of the original V-berth is what holds space in most sailboats today. This feature lays the foundation for the redesign. Across the two sides of the V-berth are support beams that allow support for a wider mattress, which in turn allows the whole space to be utilized. The use of symmetrical lines brings an overall balance to the piece. Located at the front of the bed is a place of storage. With a hinged mattress, the head of the bed can fold up and give access to the storage underneath. However, even when the mattress is down, access to storage is still available from the middle drawer. Through strategic support placement and the utilization of appropriate materials, the Beneath the Sails Sleeper is equipped for the long trips spent out at sea.
